Hotel review

Knock down a glass of the house red and relax: you're on holiday. Whether on a business trip, a short break to visit family and friends in St Augustine, or ready for a fantastic vacation, any stay in Casa Monica will be sure to transport you to foreign lands that smell of incense and the desert winds of North Africa and Southern Spain. Casa Monica is 19th century property archetypal of the Moorish revival style, built with dedicated attention to the details of Muslim architecture that defines much of the Mediterranean region. The items of furniture, colours and fabrics chosen to decorate both rooms and suites have been selected with the grandeur and eminence of southern Spain in mind: think wrought-iron bed frames, mahogany side tables, hand-painted archways, and hues centred around peacock blue, saffron yellow, carmine red and bright sandy white. The ambrosial food served at Costa Brava draws inspiration from the Spanish Mediterranean, with heady combinations of spices, seafood and select cuts of meat. Alternatively, retreat to the Cobalt Lounge and sample from their wide selection of martinis. St Augustine itself is an historic town worth exploring, and there is much on offer in the vicinity of the hotel whether your interests be golf, shopping or simply relaxing on the beach and letting the surf wash over your toes.

Casa Monica Hotel

The town of St. Augustine, Florida, carries the unique distinction of being the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the United States, a cultural honor that the landmark Casa Monica Hotel has embraced since it opened back in 1888. The Moorish Revival-style hotel boasts intricate balconies, an arched carriage entrance, hand-painted Italian tile, five elegant suites and red-tile roof. The lobby has hand-painted, gold-leafed archways and rich Spanish tapestries that remind visitors of the city’s first settlers.
